Hatch Show Prints in Nashville, TN

I learned to process photography the ole fashioned way. I am probably destined to grow another finger, or some other freakish things from ignoring the warnings NOT to touch the chemical baths. I always liked the high contrast, UN color balanced photos. Though I miss the darkroom, I do appreciate that I can do this safely from my computer with Photoshop. The following are some before and after examples I shot with my handy iPhone and a how to.

Three Things I Love about Valentine’s Day

17 Feb

Some people take Valentine’s day too seriously. As you can see from the card I made my boo(star wars geek) I am not one of those people! Valentine’s Day is not scale that determines your failure or success at love. Even though we know this, it is a hard holiday for many.

I have a great single girlfriend who was buying chocolate the day before V day. A stranger said to her, “I hope you are not buying those for yourself.” I am sure being an older Southern man, he was really trying to just be friendly and never thought that was really the case. Even so, as she said, “That really messed me up!”

In the spirit of not letting Valentines get you down, here are 3 things I love about Valentine’s day!
1. Everything covered in pink and red hearts, cupids, and sappy cards is SILLY. Maximize this, be ridiculous, and have fun!
2. Dinner deals for you plus one, any one, you choose.
3. Day after candy sales… 50% off chocolate, Hell yeah!

Jason Wu

Jason Wu for Target

6 Feb

My favorite things about Jason Wu’s collection for Target is that is style looks effortless and modern. Most of the clothes are cut for many different body types to wear. Who doesn’t look good in a classic a-line dress? All of these pieces can work easily into the wardrobe that you already have. I feel that I have hard time finding things that I would want to wear on my own time, but are also conservative enough to wear to work. I could pair these items with a cardigan, tights and boots and wear them today!

Design Thief’s are Everywhere

4 Feb

Great artist steel? So do corporations, neighbors and co workers. Design thief’s, they are everywhere! It happens to everyone, and probably more than once. Recently Atlanta based artist Tori LaConsay’s work was copied by  H&M. With a lot of pressure from the bad publicity via social media and regretsy.com they finally tried to make it right. You can see from this photo posted on regretsy.com of Tori’s work on the left and the H&M’s version on the right how similar they really are. Read the about her complaint and updated response  here. I am really glad it worked out for Tori and brought attention to her work, but what about all of the other artist big companies had ripped from? What do you do when your work is copied? Hopefully this will make it easier to hold people accountable.
