Free Download: Custom Children’s Gift Tags

21 Apr

I know I am not alone when I get a birthday invitation for a kids party that is less than a week away and go into cranky mode. It throws a big wrench into my carefully planned schedule. This is why I have a gift closet stocked with items I find on sale. Now I get to show off how great I am at wrapping presents! I take a bag, insert gift, throw in some recycled tissue paper from Victoria’s secret for girls or Anthropologie for boys. I know this is really a disappointment from someone who is supposed to be creative, but it has become a family joke.

Since Addy and I have been hitting the party circuit so much I have  have a sad Martha moment about my crappy gift wrapping. Sad Martha moments are when my love of Martha Stuart collieds with my need to have a perfect mommy moment. Such moments are usually prompted by birthdays and holiday and end in a meltdown.  My solution was to make these gift tags and tie them, along with a piece of candy, to the handle of  the lackluster Dollar Store gift bags.

Each tag is 2 x 4 inches and printed on thick white paper with a hand drawn name and tree base in black ink. I added color to the name with watered down acrylic paint and the tree top is Addy’s thumb print with un diluted acrylic paint. She loved making these trees so it made for a fun and easy project. When they were dry I added the hole punch(I used a small sized punch) and hemp string. Now we can just grab and go! You can download a template here of the tag with crop marks and the tree. Have a Martha moment!

Recycled Banner to Desk Organizer

24 Mar

We had these large banner signs printed up for our Earth Day event to bring people into our shopping center. I hated to just throw them away, especially with EARTH DAY printed on them. I used them to cover these plain plastic desk organizers. See my steps!

1950′s Table Before and After

I really like 1950′s furniture, and I was lucky enough to find a pair of the side tables for $75. I enjoy taking something old and making it new again. With a little money and a weekend of work, I love the way it turned out! See how I did it! [...]

Christmas Ornament Wreath

5 Dec

This wreath is easy to make. I should know, since I have done it twice. Do NOT store this wreath in an attic!  Apparently it does get hot enough to melt hot glue here in the South. See how to make your own festive wreath! [...]

The Chrismas Angel

1 Dec

I bought my daughter a Christmas Angel It is a soft toy angel that come with a book in a cute tin box. The book tells the story of the true meaning of Christmas and encourages your children to spread the Christmas spirit by do for others. You put your angel out and leave messages about good works your child can do. You can even sign up on their website to have message ideas sent to your e-mail!

I put ours in the Christmas tree at night so she can find them in the morning. I made up a few messages and a blank template to add new ones as I think of them. You can download them here!
