I waited tables for eight years to put myself through school, and supplement my income afterwards. I learned a lot of things, like how to make cocktails, balance large amounts of drinks in my hands, and soak sore feet. I did not realize, while I was complaining about how I couldn’t wait to get a “real job,” that I was also gaining valuable experience. I was learning important skills that I would really use to advance in my chosen field.
