How to Make a Really Easy Circle Skirt

My daughter is a girly girl. She loves to accessorise and will not wear pants, ever. Not even jeggings. I decided to see how fast, and cheap, I could make a skirt. I made the skirt and the headband from first the first cut to the last stitch in 1 hour, and the fabric and elastic was $8.00.

After I started writing the how to I thought, “wow, this seems complicated”. I promise it’s not! Once I cut the fabric I winged it, but I am giving you more exact measurements and a little extras in case you are a new to sewing. Don’t stress that it has to be perfect. This type of skirt is very forgiving!

Tea Dye

I love the unique texture and color you get when you dye paper with tea. I have used this technique to make books and textures in Photoshop for design projects. I really like this post on Once Wed by Mara of Nether Snow. She outlines great instructions and uses color dyes as well, for a very soft and beautiful effect. This is the inspiration I have needed to try a project with natural dyes!

We are taking family road trip this summer to Mammoth Cave National Park. I am a little worried about coexisting in the car with a four year old for such a long time. I have been thinking about traveling entertainment and this version car bingo via Ready Made is perfect!

Every year I vow that when all of the Holiday decorations go on sale I will stock up for the next year, but I never do. I saw a stack of white felt rectangles at the fabric store, for twenty cents a piece, the word snowflake popped into my head, and I bought them on a whim. Two dollars and three hours later I had two garlands and a wreath! Cheap and easy, just like I like it!
