Words That Breathe

24 Jun

This is a film made by the attendees of Shelley Gruendler’s, who works with Typecamp, Typography workshop at the 2010 How Conference. This was a really great exercise, where we wrote down a word that described type on a note card. Then on a second card, we altered the word to express it’s meaning. On a third card, we wrote the word down again, but altered the word to look like the halfway point between the first and second card. The result was an animation of regular characters growing into a different design. Can you tell which one is mine? If you can guess my word I will give you a FREE ” I heart fonts” shirt!

Mississippi T-shirts

One thing I dreaded when I moved to Mississippi, (that’s right, I am coming out!) was dealing with all of the Stereotypes that go along with it. In preparing to go to the HOW design conference I decided to beat them to the punch, by making these shirts to wear.  In case anyone needs it, I would like to clear up a few things.

1. I am not married to my cousin. Not even a second, third or fourth.

2. I am not running around barefoot. In fact I have lots of shoes!!!

3. Just because it is hard to move fast when it is 115 degrees outside, doesn’t mean I am lazy.

4. I am well educated and love to read.. really, we do read.

5. Just because I can’t ride the subway to work, don’t dock my cool points. Give me a chance to show you what a nerd I am!
