I recently visited Rosealie Mansion in Natchez, Mississippi. This home was built in 1823 and overlooks the Mississippi river. What I love most about old homes is learning how they were designed to function for the lives of the people that lived there. Old Southern homes have their decoration, but they are also built to make the best of the smothering heat and bugs that come with the many months of warm weather.

I recently made my first trip to Washington DC, and while I knew I would have a great time, I never expected to fall in love with the city. I do not know if it is the availability of so many museums, or the historical factor, but my city love consisted of months of daydreaming about packing up and moving.
